First drain the coolant at the petc0ck on the bottom of the radiator.
Then pull the Rad out of the engine bay. There are 2 bolts on either side to remove.
Then the hoses and out she comes. I flushed mine with a garden hose and drained well. Then cleaned, scuffed, and hit it with some hi temp paint.
I had a extremely hard time removing my lines from the back of the pump so I decided to cut the hoses and remove the pump.
Simply remove the 3 bolts you see missing and the one behind the pulley. Remove the belt and off she comes. Here are the sacrificed hoses and pump on the bench. The whole unit came out of the pump.
So into the vice it went for more heat and separation. Now for the FUN part! I spent hours trying to get that sucker out of there and slowly started to round off the edges. Finally I said screw it. I cut off the hose right at the fitting with a hack saw. I attempted to use sockets over the fitting to no avail.
The way that the fitting is angled, it leans right into the front crossmember.
At this point, it was time to get down and dirty. Out came the air grinder and I had to cut some notches and grind back just a little of the cross member to get a socket of some sort in there to fit. BTW, these things aint worth a S!! THIS is what you need to get that stubborn thing out! Reinstalling the new lines took a little tweeking to keep them from rubbing but they went right in.
The return hardline and o-ring were in good shape and could be reused. I did however replace the hose. At this point you can reinstall your radiator. If you want to feel like a real TOOL, you can be like me and begin to refill your radiator before remembering to close the petc0ck!!Written by Doug Sears Jr.
